what you’ll work through

1. the three times test. a job you have done three times and were bored by every time is a candidate for handing over. a job you have done once is not, because you do not know its rules well enough to teach them yet.
2. the keep list. the part you are good at and enjoy never gets handed over. that is not an efficiency question. it is the reason the work is yours at all.
3. the privacy line. before anything is handed over, ask one question: would you mind, particularly, if this ended up somewhere else? if the answer is yes, it does not go in.
4. the green check rule. never trust the report that says it worked. look at the finished thing itself, the way a stranger would see it, before you call anything done.
5. the never unattended list. anything that posts, sends, deletes or spends money runs while you watch. no exceptions, however boring it gets.
